Solent Habitat Information Pack

This pack will be of use to coastal planners in developing their LDFs, coastal engineers and related stakeholders in developing SMP2, coastal managers, rangers and other interested parties. If you would like a hard copy of the pack please contact the Solent Forum office.  There is a £15 charge for each copy.  Alternatively you can download the pdf files of the habitats listed below.

The pack is made up of:

1. Coastal and marine habitat information sheets. These are A4 sheets on each of the habitats found in the Solent giving background information on the habitat, a summary of where they can be found, the main threats which will effect them and opportunities for enhancing the habitat.


2. What you can do to help - a sheet detailing information on actions which can be undertaken to improve coastal and marine habitats.

3. Signpost - a sheet detailing where to go for additional and more detailed information, including plans and strategies, at the national, regional and local level. Information in these include policies and actions which have been agreed for the management of these coastal habitats and should be referred to when drafting Local Development Frameworks, Community Strategies and 2nd Round of Shoreline Management Plans etc.

4. Where to go for habitat and species information - a flow diagram showing how biodiversity survey information is held in the Solent and where the most likely source of information is.

5. A2 Map - showing coastal habitat distribution in the Solent (for illustrative purposes only). Please contact the Solent Forum Office to obtain this.
