Solent Forum 20th Anniversary Event

The inaugural meeting of the Solent Forum was convened in December 1992, and 2012 sees its 20th anniversary. To say thank you to all its members, the Forum wished to rejoice in and celebrate its achievements and look forward to a strong future working relationship with members.

After 20 years the Forum has 55 members, a well developed set of core services and project work that tackles the coastal issues of the day. It appears that the original sentiment from 1992 that “there can be no doubt that a broadly-based co-ordinating agency would have an important role and would attract a large measure of support” has rung true.

On 17 May 2012 the Forum held a 20th anniversary celebration at the Island Sailing Club at Cowes. The event included champagne, a buffet, speeches by past Forum staff, sea shanty singers and displays of the Forum's work. This included a twenty year timeline of the Forum's successes.
