National Marine Spatial Planning Progress
The new Marine Maritime Organisation, soon to be set-up under the new Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, will be responsible for establishing Marine Planning around some or all of England from 2010 onwards. Defra are currently consulting on the the proposed marine plan areas and on the order in which these plans will be produced.
The SoMaP Project has produced a 'Marine Planning Report' (Aug 2009 and updated November 2009) which summarise national progress to date on marine spatial planning. This report will be regularly updated by the project team. It can be downloaded from the SoMaP resources pages on this website.
