Terms of reference	Yarmouth Harbour is a Trust port formed under the pier and Harbour Orders (Cowes and Yarmouth) (Isle of Wight) Confirmation Order of 1931. The Harbour Authority is the statutory authority that manages Yarmouth Harbour under this Act. This area includes the harbour and the River Yar to the Causeway at Freshwater. Within the harbour is the Yar bridge, which is owned by the Isle of Wight Council, but operated by the Harbour Commissioners. The bridge operates within the Yar Bridge Act of 1958. Mission Statement 'The Commissioners will maintain and enhance Yarmouth Harbour as a viable Port brining trade and tourism to the Island and in particular the West Wight area, whilst preserving the character andcharm of the surrounding environment and ensuring the long-termn future of the Harbour and estuary'.
Membership	Nine Harbour Commissioners with special interests: Harbours and Marine Related Leisure Activities Health and Safety Accountancy/Financial Management Coastal Environment Marine Transport and Management Law Commercial Management Community Relations The Commissioners responsibilities include managing the harbour within its various Acts and statutes laid down for this purpose. The various orders require the Commissioners to make byelaws and regulate vessels within the harbour.
