Work Programme
The work programme will include the following key tasks:
Site selection
A rigorous site selection process has been completed with Key partners, resulting in 6 sites across the Solent being identified for inclusion in the project. These sites demonstrate a range of issues with a cross section of communities at risk.
Set up Local Engagement Groups (LEG)
Local Engagement Groups will be set up at each of the 6 sites and will include up to 10 key representatives of the communities. With guidance from the project team they will help plan and guide the programme of activities.
Stakeholder Engagement Strategies
The project team in partnership with the LEG will plan engagement activities i.e. produce Stakeholder Engagement Strategies for each of the 6 sites. These will determine the key messages to communicate, indentify the target audiences and suggest appropriate interpretation materials and indentify the most effective engagement approach and techniques such as workshops, exhibitions etc. It will result in a suggested programme of events for each area.
Develop Materials
A number of materials will be developed which will help people understand coastal change issues, these might include computer models of what the coast will look like in the future and educational packs for schools. They will be specific to each local area.
Undertake Engagement
A detailed programme of events as identified by the LEG and the Stakeholder Engagement strategy will be undertaken. This may include workshops, educational activities or demonstrations of resilience measures
Vision and Coastal Adaptation Plans
The activities will lead to the development of a community vision for coastal change and an adaptation strategy which will outline a number of actions to achieve the vision. It is hoped that the project will give the community the capacity to take forward the plan into the future.
